Roger Allers

Roger Allers (1949–2026) was an American director, screenwriter, animator, and playwright best known for co-directing Disney’s The Lion King (1994), one of the defining animated Films of its era. He later wrote the stage adaptation for Broadway, extending the story’s visual and emotional language beyond the screen. Allers also directed Sony Pictures Animation’s debut feature, Open Season, and the animated adaptation of The Prophet. Across mediums, his work reflects a commitment to character-driven storytelling and expressive visual design.
