Saul Bass

Saul Bass (1920–1996) was an American graphic designer and filmmaker whose title sequences reshaped the visual identity of modern cinema. Known for bold typography, stark symbolism, and kinetic minimalism, he transformed opening credits into narrative prologues, collaborating on films such as Vertigo, Psycho, and Anatomy of a Murder. Beyond the screen, his corporate logos and poster designs brought similar clarity and graphic precision to public space. Bass treated design as storytelling, reducing complex ideas to elemental form while heightening mood through motion and rhythm.
